Floating café curtain rods
Measurement tips

Here's how to get the perfect fit with our signature floating café curtain rods:
- Provide the full width of the rod you need - this includes the finials on each end.
- The finials sit on small hooks, as shown above. Make sure you have space to screw these hooks into a suitable surface - usually the outer frame, casing, or architrave.
- If you're fixing to a sliding sash window, plan to fix your rods to the casing outside the sliding portion.
- When measuring for a bay window, remember to leave a small, even gap between the rods in each corner, for a neat finish.
An ideal setup is illustrated below. As always, please get in touch with any questions.

Fitting instructions
Your bespoke curtain rods are designed with a minimalist "pin and sleeve" system. The brass rod sits between two vertical pins, held securely in place by the finials.
What's in the box
Each rod set includes:
- 1x brass rod
- 2x push-fit finials (decorative end caps that slide onto the rod and slot over the mounting pins)
- 2x mounting brackets (L-shaped brackets with upright pins)
Tools you'll need
- Drill with ~1 mm bit
- Pencil
- Tape measure
- Spirit level
- An extra pair of hands to help
1. Center and mark your position
Hold the bare rod (without the finials attached) up to your window at the desired height.
Use a tape measure to ensure the gaps between the rod ends and the window frame are equal on both sides.
Use a spirit level to ensure the rod is straight, then lightly mark the frame directly below where each end of the rod sits.
2. Install the first mounting bracket
At your first mark, measure 1mm toward the outer edge of the frame (away from the window's centre) and drill a pilot hole.
Screw in your first mounting bracket until the upright pin is vertical and the base is flush with the wood.
3. Position and install the second bracket
Place one end of the bare rod flush against the pin you just installed.
Extend the rod toward your second mark and use your spirit level to confirm it is perfectly horizontal.
At the rod's opposite end, mark your second pilot hole 1mm toward the outer edge of the frame (this creates a total gap of approximately 2mm, allowing the rod to sit comfortably between the two pins).
Drill your second pilot hole on this mark and screw in the second mounting bracket.
Check that your rod sits centered between the upright pins with a small gap on each side.
4. Prepare the finials
Slide a finial onto each end of the rod.
Important: The finials are push-fit and should not be pushed all the way onto the rod. Stop when the rod is inserted about 5mm (roughly the width of a pencil) into the finial.
Look into the mounting hole on the underside of the finial. If you can see the rod blocking the hole, it is pushed in too far. Slide the finial out slightly until the hole is clear.
5. Final assembly
Rotate the finials so the mounting holes face straight down.
Slide your curtain onto the rod.
Starting at one end, carefully lower the finial onto the mounting bracket. The upright pin should slot snugly into the hole in the finial.
At the opposite end, lower the finial so it sits snugly on the mounting bracket's pin (as in the previous step).
Gently test that the rod is secure by lifting slightly.
Troubleshooting and tips
The fit is too tight or loose: If the rod won't drop easily between the pins, or the finials fail to support the rod securely, you can slightly rotate the mounting brackets to adjust the spacing by a millimeter or two in either direction.
Maintenance: To wash the curtains, simply lift the rod straight up off the mounting brackets. No screws or tools required.
Recess café curtain rods
Measurement tips

To measure up, simply find the exact width of your recess.
We'll supply a finished rod that's ever-so-slightly shorter than your measurements.
This fitting allows for small adjustments, allowing you to make your finished rod up to ~0.3cm longer in situ. This helps guarantee a snug fit.
Tip: It's best to measure at the point you want to mount the rod. If you have a period property, you'll likely know some walls can be uneven or sloping.
Fitting instructions

You'll need:
- Drill and drill bit
- Flathead screwdriver
- Pencil
- Helper (recommended)
- Wall plugs if mounting into plaster or brick (not included)
Here's how to mount the rod in your recess:
- Test-fit your rod in the recess. If needed, turn the fixings anticlockwise to extend the rod slightly
- Hold the rod in position and mark through the countersunk holes for your pilot holes
- Drill holes and insert wall plugs if needed
- Secure the first mount with provided screws while supporting the opposite end
- Repeat for the second mount
